Cantorial Soloist Heather Klein

Cantorial Soloist Heather Klein is a Yiddish vocalist, composer, and producer passionate about special projects and teaching the next generation. She has performed extensively throughout the Bay Area, nationally and internationally.

Heather graduated with an undergraduate and master's degree in Operatic Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She continued her passion with a bustling musical career while building Jewish work at dozens of congregations, including almost a decade at Congregation Beth Am in Los Altos Hills, with incredible mentors.

Featured on PBS, Jewish Women Rock, and the National Folksbiene Theatre and won an SF Critics Award for a recent composition on a show and many festivals, Heather brings her special projects and skillset to Temple Sinai. A recent highlight includes a live recorded album with ShirHalleLou, "Rooted Lullaby," at our Yiddish Festival in 2020. Shanghai Angel, a telling of her grandmother's escape from Austria during WWII and detainment at Angel Island and a new project in the beginning phases of learning out of Harvard in Cambridge, MA, about poetry written while watching the hate during the times of the Scottsboro boys' trials in Alabama in the 1930s.
